My name is Julia Ensley and if you're ready to learn, I'm ready to teach you.

WHY LEARN FRENCH?

French is spoken by 350 million people worldwide.  Besides France, French-speaking countries include:  Belgium, Benin, Burkina-Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Canada, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Gabon, Guinea, Haiti, Ivory Coast, Luxembourg, Madagascar, Mali, Monaco, Niger, Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Senegal, Seychelles, Switzerland, Togo, and Vanuatu.

In some other countries such as Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and Morocco, French is widely spoken.

WHY STUDY FRENCH WITH ME?

I grew up in Southern England and began studying French when I was 8 years old.  From my home in Brighton, France was just across the water, and we used to vacation in Brittany, taking the overnight ferry.  From the age of 12 I had a French penfriend, and I'd take the ferry and then the train to the Gare Saint-Lazare in Paris where she'd come and meet me.  Perhaps it was this that made me enjoy learning languages, but I was always a talker anyway, even in English.

Since then, I have studied approximately 12 languages and taught French, German, Italian and English as a Second Language.  I have a Certificate in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).  My own, personal, lifetime hobby is studying Mandarin.  It's an ongoing project.

I know from experience what it takes to acquire the basics in a language.  I've seen both sides, learning and teaching, and I'll be able to see what is causing you problems in French, and help you find a way to fix that or go around it.

I approach the study of language from a new perspective.  If you tried before to learn French and gave up, did you ever think that perhaps it was the teacher's fault?  I'll ask you to work hard, but you'll have fun and get results because my teaching is results-driven, not process-driven.
